Hi Jamie. What is the current transom height and angle. It looks low even for a short shaft motor. I have been raising the motor (30hp short shaft Johnson) on my boat and am currently at a 21” transom. I would have to make a new bracket to run higher. My 15 Johnson short shaft also runs on a 20” tra...

50mph is a nice goal. In ideal conditions, might be attainable. I would shy away from a set back transom and go for an inset (3-4”) transom. It would move the cg forward and provide a built in trim tab. Some people put hooks in the bottom or weld a strip across the bottom to reduce porpoising in an ...

1. What motor? Current/non current? Power Trim? Manufactured/diy Propshaft height? 2. Hull? One design/builder or diy? Material? Aluminum or wood or glass? Floatation? 3. Steering? Tiller or wheel? 4. Course? Oval or right and left turns? Length? Is this going to be a class for racers that like to f...

I like the idea of 30hp tiller type of racing. Having a race boat and motor that is available to the general public and can also be used as a fishing boat or grocery getter could attract more people to racing. There are pros and cons to all types of boat materials. Aluminum is durable and easy (for ...

See if you can get some tremco 440 tape from a window place. 1/8x3/8 works great 1/16x3/8 works well if you are careful. I was just suggesting to put a layer of epoxy where you plan to run the bag tape. Not on the entire part. I have never used one of the frogs for the hose. I always wrapped some bl...

Crawl, looks like you are doing a nice job with the right materials. I did a similar job with a friend on a Switzer Shooting Star years ago. It was a lot of work but worth it. How about instead of tee nuts, screwing a piece of 1/4” aluminum flat bar to the underside of the plywood. It’s easy to dril...

What power will you be running.

I have been thinking about building a similar boat either of plywood or if I had the money, carbon/nomex honeycomb panels. Would probably weigh 55 or 60lbs but would not be as malleable as aluminum.
