I've only tore my Vee 4 apart so far. I want to send it to Monty Racing for a mod 2 but first I have to build a crate that's light but strong. I was thinking of glassing a carboard box. Every pounds count. Something like these! https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/bpo/d/minneapolis-omc-4-mod-raci...

It’s the prep work time that stops most people from doing at real nice repaint of the outboard midsection and gearcase. The result is usually poor and doesn’t last. Getting to bare metal is the best way to get a quality long lasting result. Aircraft Ultra Paint Remover could be the solution. https:/...

Very different boat combination in this example.....a 12 foot Charger/ 90 hp Yamaha. The setup has a lot of setback for a 12 foot boat, very heavy motor which should make the boat run bow high/light in the nose....but it doesn’t! The boat has a bow gas tank to help balance the boat and stabilize the...

I know in the T Boat group there has been a lot of engine building over the winter months. Several are ready to test and it will be interesting to hear the results. I got a rebuild started on a 56 OMC this winter. In the early 1990’s APBA started the SST 70 class. It was originally a mod SST 60 tunn...

I think this extension would be ideal for an original mercury 650XS running on a Hydrostream Voodoo with the 24 inch transom. It allows you to keep all the original parts including the special solid motor mounts midsection. Don’t see many complete kits like this one. Another application is for boats...

I happen to trip over this video by mistake. As a GM muscle car guy from the 1960’s I played with a lot of small block Chevy motors. I always thought the 400 cu. inch motor should have been the best one. The cooling system and the crank shaft were the issues. The 302 and 1970 350 LT1 solid lifter mo...

I’ve always wondered if there was a better material other than aluminum to make pontoons. We’ve had a few high performance big outboard horsepower pontoon boats on our lake. They don’t last long before metal fatigue sets in and they’re done. These pontoons could be the answer. There is just somethin...

We have only seen a few 850XS outboards for sale in Ontario. The gearcase with the low water pickups under the bullet is the feature that makes the motor special. Updating the ignition system and adding late model power trim would certainly make the motor better. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...

I thought this one would have sold quickly based on the last years higher asking prices. Hull certainly wouldn’t be hurt running that motor.
