For a do it yourself guy this fellow has some clever ideas that actually work. He only plays with small outboard motors and runs them on a small V hull aluminum boat. It is impressive how well his combos perform even though most of us wouldn’t spend the time or money similar projects. In this video ... |

Raising the exhaust port on a 2 stroke raises the horsepower, but the more you raise the exhaust port, the more you lose low end performance. Would it be possible to have a mechanical device that could alter the exhaust port height as the motor moved through its rpm range so you had the best of both... |

I have mentioned a few times that had the major motorcycle companies involved in motorcycle racing wanted to build a 2 stroke racing outboard they could. Would their motors have been superior to what we currently have? Watch this video and judge for yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXGQ90-D... |

Riding in a boat and seeing how challenging the race course is scary especially if you were a parent with a child racing in the event. But, you can also understand why the sport is popular. Just makes you want to try it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkUDrFxpEtk |

You have to be impressed with the creativity and workmanship of this rebuild of an old aluminum fishing boat. Good example of a DIY project if you have the skill set, tools, materials, time and desire. Some of their ideas would work if you wanted to build a 10-12 foot derby tinny. https://www.youtub... |

Two T Boat owners messaged me about their planned engine builds. One was a 1974 OMC 49 and the other was a 56 OMC Bridgeport. The 49 was a basic rebuild and the 56 questions were about modifications and the porting. First off “I AM NOT A MOD OUTBOARD GUY!” So I cannot offer suggestions as to how lar... |

The rebuilt T850 Spec powerheads were all below 160 psi with the spec SST 60 head.. This fact is something most new to OMC 56 cubic inch engine building T guys don’t understand. They assume that if the compression reading is below 160 psi with the spec sheet SST 60 23 cc .440 pocket depth cylinder ... |

I would have thought this is impossible to do with a small horsepower outboard. It would be an interesting event to add to a drag boat event.” How far can you go with your boat standing straight up?” They called it Wheelies at the car drags. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKirLYQxD4o https://www.yo... |

One of my “Wish For Boats” was the smaller 13 foot version of the 16 shooting star. Only ever saw one in a picture. They did use the deck on a 13 foot V type hull , but that wasn’t the shoot star bottom. The original designs were all built of wood. Then molds were made of the wood boat. This is a 14... |
