| The 1972 World Championship featured the first year the Mercury and OMC factory teams ONLY raced single engine tunnels. The race was over 2 days. The race was 4 hours each day. | In Europe they race T850 (70CES Yamaha) and GT60 (60 hp mercury 4 stroke). The numbers in each class are small so they started combining the classes. Interesting how different their race course is, only one buoy turn markers, no turn boats, no crash boat. Notice how they use the full width of the river and the long straightaways.

| This class had its beginning in ONE race Club in the United States.
